From all the articles on "fieldbuses", that is - Profibus, DeviceNet, CAN, ModBus, and others, one would think that these busses dominate. NOT TRUE! Good old RS-232 and RS-485 are still used in over 75% of process control networks.
To connect and protect devices on RS-485, Dataforth offers a fully isolated DIN rail converter / line driver, our DCP485. Dataforth's compact DIN package features a complete electrical isolation barrier and heavy-duty surge protectors rated to 1500Vrms (continuous) isolation, 6000 VDC (1 minute) surge and inherent 15KV ESD protection.
